Erin asked me to join this group and in the email she said she wanted to know all the ways I save money. I think food is the easiest place to save, since making it yourself is not only much cheaper, but . . . more

Hi Barbara, I just saw your post on Mandi's question of the day. I wanted to let you know that I just got a degree in accounting at the age of 44, and now I run my own business and do all of my own accounting. It is never too late. I loved going to classes.

Hi Barbara- I saw your ferret pic and had to check out your profile. I have 2 ferrets myself- a boy, Cobi, and a girl, Noel. Together, I call them my "furfs" or "fur-furs". They're about 6 years old now- had them since they were little fuzz-balls.
They have been great little pets, very smart, and a lot of fun. I find that ferrets are often misundersood and I often get strange looks when I tell people that I have two ferrets.
It's nice to know that there are others out there who understand how great they can be!

I think he's about two years old. I adopted him and Bonnie from the Humane Society about a year ago and was told that they were both about a year old, but I don't really believe that they had any idea of their ages for a few reasons. So for all I know he's anywhere from two or older.
The rash looks like the one on his chin and is on the insides of his hind legs. I went up and tried to get a picture but it's kind of hard to see through the fur and it actually looks like it's cleared up a bit, and he wouldn't sit still for me to even try and get a picture. He's been sleeping like a rock lately so I'll try to see if I can get one without waking him up later; he used to wake up whenever he'd hear me come into the room.
Bonnie hasn't been vaccinated. I separated her from him as soon as I noticed his rash in hopes of, if it was distemper, she might have some chance of not contracting it. He has little to no attachment to her, so separating them hasn't had any affect on him, he still acts exactly the same except more tired. However, she's pretty attached to him. Whoever her previous owners were quite obviously poorly socialized her so she shies away from all humans and clings to him(while he pretty much ignores her). She's in a different room now and I shower and change into clean clothes every day before going in to play with her and she doesn't show any kinds of symptoms of distemper. If this isn't distemper I want to get her back to him as soon as possible because she's lonely without him. I'm gonna make an appointment with Dr. Wagner.

His rash is on his back legs and his chin. From everything I've read, these are main symptoms distemper. Since that's 100% fatal, I figured I'd just wait to see if he displayed any other symptoms just to be sure and then I'd have to have him put down. However, he hasn't had any nasal or eye discharge, or any other symptoms of distemper other than some mild lethargy, and its been almost a week.
Last night, my mom called a woman that helps my cousin with his ferret in Wisconsin and she said that she's had ferrets with distemper and it doesn't sound like he has it; she thinks it sounds more likely to be either just a reaction to the change in seasons or adrenal disease.
I'm very confused by it and now I'm just trying to get him in to see a vet that's knowledgeable about ferrets soon.
Can you give me an idea of the cost?
Thank you,
Christine
